MW4 Multiplayer Beginner Guide
Choose an accessible first weapon, learn objective play and understand unlocks before committing to Prestige.

Choose a first setup
At player level 4, Create-a-Class opens several starting weapons, including Han 86 and ISO Nightshade. The M4 is listed at level 14. Start with a weapon you can control, use an optic only if it improves your sight picture, and add attachments one at a time so the change is easy to judge. The weapon directory identifies unlock-level conflicts instead of hiding them.
Play the objective
Check the playlist rules before the match. A kill race, a zone-control round and a limited-life round reward different decisions. Stay close enough to support a teammate, check a new angle before sprinting across it, and use the objective marker to decide when to move. These are starting habits, not a tested fastest leveling method.
Learn progression before resetting
Multiplayer player progression reaches 55 before Prestige. Weapon level and DMZ level are separate tracks. Shared compatible attachments reduce repeated unlock work, but Weapon Prestige resets the chosen weapon’s attachments. Read the confirmation screen before accepting.
