MW4 Campaign Guide: Where to Start
A spoiler-light starting point for campaign access, mission order and the Stranded and Following Orders references.

The MW4 campaign is the story mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Eligible digital preorders can begin from October 16, 2026, before the October 23 full release. This page avoids ending spoilers; the mission list contains mission names, and individual mission pages reveal puzzle answers.
Start the campaign
Confirm your early access eligibility and installed campaign content first. Choose the campaign from the current game menu. If access is locked, check ownership and downloads before changing account links or repurchasing the game.
Find your current mission
The campaign mission list presents the reported sequence of 16 missions. Following Orders is third; Stranded is tenth. This is a navigation aid, not a claim that every mission takes the same amount of time.
Stranded reference
Start with the Stranded overview to separate objectives from optional exploration. For a specific lock, open the codes table. The island hidden bunker and the small-island container are different locations; using one location's code at the other can fail.
Following Orders reference
The Following Orders guide groups dialogue choices, collectible reporting and the toolbox code. Read only the section you need if you are avoiding spoilers. We do not present untested achievement conditions as guaranteed.
Source and scope
Official campaign announcement. Mission references use the linked community sources on each page. This launch edition of the guide is not a frame-by-frame walkthrough of all 16 missions.
