Practical field guide
MW4 Crashing or Not Launching: Platform Checks
Separate a missing content pack, access problem and process crash using current official support.

Identify the symptom
Record the platform, error text, affected mode and whether the game process starts. A missing launch button is different from a crash after loading. Check access eligibility and installed mode content first. Do not repurchase the game or unlink accounts just because a button is missing.
Xbox PC missing button
The current known-issues page identifies missing Campaign/DMZ launch buttons on Xbox PC. Confirm MW4 Content Pack 1 is installed, and review Microsoft Store device management and its ten-device limit. The issue is listed as under investigation; this check is not a claim that the bug is fixed.
Crash after the process starts
Follow official crash support: update the game and system, restart, compare the PC with requirements, close conflicting background recording/overlay or input-remapping software, and check the recommended GPU driver. Driver references checked October 22 list AMD 26.7.1, NVIDIA 616.56 and Intel 32.0.101.8974; use the official page for changes. For console crashes, restart fully and check system updates before using platform support.
Security and escalation
For a security error, read TPM status in tpm.msc and UEFI/Secure Boot status in msinfo32. Firmware steps depend on the motherboard; follow official manufacturer instructions. The known-issues page links crash and bug-report forms. Include a redacted error record and steps to reproduce; never submit credentials to this fan site.
